Strategy for Subjective Exams

This is one question that is on every PMT aspirants mind especially the one focussing on CBSE-PMT. With the newly introduced exam pattern and with little over 5 months to go for 'lie exam, a strategy needs to be devised so that the student satisfactorily attempts the preliminary as well as the mains paper.

Every student should essentially devise his own strategy depending on his preparation, understanding of he subject arid' exam temperament, The strategy will be slightly different for the student who is silting for the first time in the PMT exams and is appearing for the boards and the student who will be 'repeating. The student appearing for the boards in month of March will be better prepared for the subjective exam and will be at on advantage compared to the student who will be repeating.

The strategy can be broken down into two essential steps - preparing for subjective exams and than Satisfactory answering the exam.

While preparing tor the exam take care of the following.

  1. If you are appearing for the boards then doing well in the boards should be given top priority. If you do well in it, it implies that you are well prepared for the subjective exam and chances are that you will do veil in the CBSE-PMT mains. Those who ors repeating should lake out their boards books (NCERT is a must} and should start practising subjective questions.
  2. Practice makes a student perfect. The student should also practice question from other subjective exams like Bihar CECE and West Bengal JEE (including old papers of Orissa JEE} C6SE-PMT Explorer for mains containing 20 Model Test Papers is a must if you want to practice extensively Also practice model lest papers will be given each month in Physics For You, Chemistry Today and Biology Today Also it is essential to go through each of the given solutions deeply as it will give you a fair idea of what is required to answer the given question.

  4. Practice writing good answers - answers which are to - the - point, orderly and neatly written. Draw diagrams or flow charts, where necessary.
  5. To assess if you ore on the right track or not, sit for the mock tests of solve and send tests. This way you con have on independent assessment of your efforts which would gives you a fair idea as to what is lacking 'n your preparation and what more efforts are required from your side. The solve and send tests are given in TWAS.
  6. Finally always try to know something more than what is given in the standard text books. An exemplary answer will always fetch you good marks Strategy for satisfactorily answering the exam should include.
  7. Reaching exam hall or time will the required pen/pencils ,    
  8. Reading the instructions carefully if it says "answer all questions" that it means you cannot skip any questions.
  9. Length of the answer should be equivalent to the marks alloted to the question.
  10. Scan the entire paper before starting. This will help you to size – up your exam, for example if you led it has lengthy questions then you will have to work faster.
  11. Before writing on answer, think Mentally form the answer before putting it on paper. This will avoid missing an important point and will involve less of scribbling/cutting.
  12. Do precisely what is required. Writing unnecessary points will not fetch any marks.
  13. Keep a check on time. You can also save time by writing precise answer and skipping questions that you do not know.
