What is the perimeter of each of the following figures? What do you infer from the answers? (a) (b) (c) (d)

    Answer:

    (a) Given, the figure is a square whose side is 25 cm. \[\therefore \] Perimeter of square \[=4\times \] Length of a Side \[=4\times 25\text{ }cm=100\text{ }cm\] (b) Given, the figure is a rectangle whose length = 40 cm and breadth = 10 cm \[\therefore \]Perimeter of rectangle \[=2\times \](Length + Breadth) \[=2\times (40+10)cm=2\times 50cm=100cm\] (c) Given, the figure is a rectangle whose length = 30 cm and breadth = 20 cm \[\therefore \]Perimeter of rectangle \[=2\times \](Length + Breadth) \[=2\times (30+20)cm=2\times 50cm=100cm\] (d) Given, the figure is an isosceles triangle whose sides are 30 cm, 30 cm and 40 cm respectively. \[\therefore \] Perimeter of triangle = Sum of all sides of a triangle \[=(30+30+40)cm=100cm\] Here, we observe that the perimeter of each figure is 100 cm i.e. they have equal perimeters.
