    Basics of Data

The word data is plural of datum, which means fact or raw information. Data is the combination of characters, numbers and symbols collected for a specific purpose.  

Thus we see that Data is a collection of facts from which conclusions may be drawn. When the raw data is given to the computer and the computer processes it and gives us the desired result, the data becomes useful and is called information.  

 Data is a very common word in computer. It is in plural form. What is the singular form of Data?
