    Answer:

Women in different parts of the world organised and agitated for equal rights. They demanded enhancing the political and legal status of women and improving their educational and career opportunities. These women's movements aimed at equality in personal and family life as well and was known as feminist movement. In India, feminist movement demanded some  political status for women, viz., more women as elected representatives. One-third of seats in local government bodies i.e., in panchayats and municipalities are now reserved for women. Women's organisations and activists now are demanding a similar reservation, i.e., atleast one-third of seats in Lok Sabha and State Assemblies must be reserved for women. The women reservation bill was passed by the Rajya Sabha. But has not been passed by the Lok Sabha.
