three main reasons for land degradation are
(i) Natural forces and human activities
both contribute to land degradation. Among natural forces, wind erosion, water
led erosion, forest degradation, unusual transgression of sea water into
coastal lands are some reasons for land degradation.
(ii) Among human activities, abandoning mining activities, deforestation,
overgrazing, use of excessive festiliser and recently over-irrigation are cited
as reasons for massive land degradation.
(iii) According to one report 130 million hectors of land
in India are degraded by these reasons.
