\[KH{{F}_{2}}\] exists while \[KHC{{l}_{2}}\] does not. Explain.

    Answer:

\[HF\] molecules are hydrogen bonded as\[H-F....H-F...H-F....\]  Therefore, they can associate to form \[H{{F}_{2}}^{-}\] anion which can exist in combination with \[{{K}^{+}}\] ion as \[KH{{F}_{2}}\]. But no hydrogen bonding is present in \[H-Cl\] molecules. Therefore the anion \[HCl_{2}^{-}\] and\[KHC{{l}_{2}}\]  do not exist.
