Out of \[{{(HS{{O}_{4}})}^{-}}\]and \[{{(HS{{O}_{3}})}^{-}}\] which is a stronger base?

    Answer:

The anions (conjugate bases) are formed from the corresponding acids as follows: \[{{H}_{2}}\overset{+6}{\mathop{S}}\,{{O}_{4}}\rightleftharpoons {{(HS{{O}_{4}})}^{-}}+{{H}^{+}}\]           \[H\overset{+5}{\mathop{S}}\,O_{3}^{-}\rightleftharpoons SO_{4}^{2-}+{{H}^{+}}\] Please note that smaller the oxidation number of the atom, stronger will be corresponding conjugate base. Therefore,\[HSO_{3}^{-}\] is a stronger base.
