    What is mean by (i) 12 - 16 compounds and (ii) 13-15 compounds? Give examples.

    Answer:

    (i) Compounds (semiconductors) formed by elements of group-12 with elements of group-16 are called 12-16 compounds. e.g. ZnS, CdS etc.   (ii) Compounds (semiconductors) formed by elements of group-13 with elements of group - 15 are called 13-15 compounds. e.g. A1P, GaS, InSb etc.
