The direction in which an object moves is given by the direction of velocity of the object and not by the direction of acceleration. Explain this statement with suitable example.

    Answer:

When an object is thrown up, the direction of motion of the object and hence its velocity are along vertical in upward direction. As the object moves up, it is always attracted by earth in downward direction i.e., the acceleration is in vertical downward direction. Hence the direction of motion of the object is that of velocity and not that of acceleration.
