Two particles are moving with constant speed \[\upsilon \] such that they are always at a constant distance d apart and their velocities are always equal and opposite. After what time, they return to their initial positions?

    Answer:

Since, \[\text{average velocity}=\frac{displacement}{total\,time\,taken}\]and  \[\text{average speed }=\frac{total\,dis\tan ce\,travelled}{total\,time\,taken}\]. Since, displacement of an object can be equal to or less than the total distance travelled in a given time, hence, average velocity of an object over an interval of time is either equal to or smaller than the average speed of the object over the same interval of time.
