Why is cyclohexanol more soluble in water than hexan-1-ol?

    Answer:

In cyclohexanol, group \[R(-{{C}_{6}}{{H}_{11}})\] is more compact than the group \[(-{{C}_{6}}{{H}_{13}})\] in hexan-1-ol which is a straight alcohol. Due to smaller size, the cyclohexyl group is more exposed to hydrogen bonding with \[{{H}_{2}}O\] molecules in as compared to the other alkyi group. Therefore, cyclohexanol is more soluble in water than hexan-1-ol.
