      How are primary, secondary and tertiary alcohols distinguished?

    Answer:

      The three classes of alcohols are distinguished by Lucas test. Alcohols are soluble in Lucas reagent (cone. ) while their halides are immiscible and produce turbidity in solution. 3° alcohol produces turbidity immediately, while 2° alcohol produces turbidity after some time. 1° alcohol doesn't produces turgidity at room temperature.
