Are the bidentate ligands same as the ambident ligands?

    Answer:

No, these are different. A bidentate ligand has two donor atoms which can donate electron pairs simultaneously. An ambident ligand has also two donor atoms but only one can donate the electrons at a time. For example, oxalate ion(OX) is a bidentate ligand but \[C{{N}^{-}}\] is an ambident ligand.
