approx. three moles of acid: (i) one mole to dissolve the amine, (ii) one mole
to liberate \[HN{{O}_{2}}\] from \[NaN{{O}_{2}}\] and (iii) one mole to
maintain the proper acidity of the reaction mixture to prevent the coupling of diazonium
salt thus formed with the undiazotised (free) amine to give the azo dye.
