\[KH{{F}_{2}}\]is a well known compound whereas \[KHC{{l}_{2}}\] does not exist. Why?

    Answer:

Hydrofluoric acid exists in dimeric form \[({{H}_{2}}{{F}_{2}})\] due to the presence of hydrogen bonding and it exhibits dibasic nature.  It can form an acid salt such as \[KH{{F}_{2}}\] on reacting with base like \[KOH\]. It ionises as \[{{K}^{+}}\]and\[H{{F}_{2}}^{-}\,\,{{(F......H-F)}^{-}}\]. Hydrochloric acid exists in monomeric form \[(HCl)\] since no hydrogen bonding is present. It therefore, cannot form a salt of the type \[KHC{{l}_{2}}\].
