How do electrical conductivity of following class of materials vary with temperature? (i) Semiconductor (ii) Metallic conductor (iii) Super conductor.

    Answer:

      (a) A substance in which magnetic domains are aligned in parallel and antiparallel directions in unequal number resulting a net magnetic moment is called ferrimagnetic and this property is called ferrimagnetism. e.g (b) A semiconductor in which doped impurity has more valence electrons than the pure element is called n-type semiconductor, e.g. Ge or Si (Group-14) doped with P or As(group-15). (c) The energy gap between valence band and conduction band of a substance is called forbidden band (or Brullian zones) .
