    D) If both the assertion and reason are false

    E) If the assertion is false but reason is true

    Correct Answer: E

    Solution :

It is not exocrine glands, but the endocrine glands which are known as ductless glands because, unlike exocrine glands, they do not possess any ducts to carry their secretions. Their secretions (i.e. hormones) are directly poured into the blood, for example -thyroid gland secretes thyroxine which is passed into the blood and carried to the respective sites of action. Exocrine glands, on the other hand, possess ducts and their secretions are conducted via ducts to the respective sites of action, for example. Salivary, tear, gastric and intestinal glands.
