    C) If the assertion is true but the reason is false

    D) If both the assertion and reason are false

    E) If the assertion is false but reason is true

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

Chloragogen cells are present in the coelomic fluid of earthworm. These cells are centres of synthesis of glycogen and fat, deamination of excess amino acids and formation of urea. They seem to be waste material collected in them. Ageing or excessively filled chloragogen cells come out of the coelomic fluid through dorsal pores and get killed. Because of the connection with storage and synthesis of glycogen and fat, deamination and urea formation, cholragogen cells behave like ?vertebrate liver?.
