Distance between the two parallel lines \[y=2x+7\]and \[y=2x+5\] is                                 [Orissa JEE 2004]

    A)            \[\frac{\sqrt{5}}{2}\]

    B)            \[\frac{2}{5}\]

    C)            \[\frac{2}{\sqrt{5}}\]

    D)            \[\frac{1}{\sqrt{5}}\]

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

Given lines are \[2x-y+7=0\] and \[AB=2AD=2\sqrt{81-9}=2\sqrt{72}=12\sqrt{2}\]            Both the lines are on same side of origin.            Distance between two parallel lines =\[\frac{7-5}{\sqrt{{{2}^{2}}+{{1}^{2}}}}=\frac{2}{\sqrt{5}}\].
