If the volumes of a cone and a hemisphere having the same base are equal, then the height of the cone will be \[x\] times the radius of the base of hemisphere, where\[x\]x is

    A)  1

    B)  2

    C)  3

    D)  \[\pi \]

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

If r be the radius of the sphere, and h be the height of the cone, then volume of the hemisphere \[\frac{2}{3}\pi {{r}_{3}},\] and    volume of the cone \[=\frac{1}{3}\,\pi {{r}^{2}}h\] Since    \[\frac{2}{3}\pi \,{{r}^{3}}=\frac{1}{3}\,\pi \,{{r}^{2}}h\] \[\therefore \]  \[h=2r\] or            \[\frac{h}{r}=2\] i.e.          \[x=2\]
