The diameter of the sun is several hundred times larger than the moon, still at the time of the solar eclipse, the entire sun is covered by the moon. How?

    Answer:

The distance of the sun from the earth is 1000 times larger than the distance of the moon from the earth. During solar eclipse, moon comes in between sun and earth. Both the sun and the moon subtend nearly equal angles at our eyes. Hence the entire sun gets covered by the moon.
