Why is a \[p-n\] junction also called a junction diode?

    Answer:

A \[p-n\] junction allows a large current to flow through it when forward biased and it offers a high resistance when it is reverse biased. This unidirectional property is similar to that of a vacuum diode. Hence \[p-n\] junction is also called a junction diode.
