If the base region of a transistor is made large, as compared to a usual transistor, how does it affect (i) the collector current, and (ii) current gain of this transistor?

    Answer:

If the base region is made large, most of the charge carriers coming from the emitter would get neutralised in the base by the electron-hole recombination process and this will (i) reduce collector current and hence (ii) reduce current gain.
