  • question_answer
For the lines \[2x+5y=7\]and \[2x-5y=9,\]which of the following statement is true

    A)            Lines are parallel

    B)            Lines are coincident

    C)            Lines are intersecting

    D)            Lines are perpendicular

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

Let \[{{L}_{1}}\equiv 2x+5y-7=0\] and\[{{L}_{2}}\equiv 2x-5y-9=0\], so that\[{{m}_{1}}=-\frac{2}{5},{{m}_{2}}=+\frac{2}{5}\].                    Lines are neither parallel nor perpendicular, also not coincident. Hence the lines are intersecting.
