The equation of the line perpendicular to line \[ax+by+c=0\] and passing through \[(a,\ b)\]is equal to  [Pb. CET 2002]

    A)            \[bx-ay=0\]

    B)            \[bx+ay-2ab=0\]

    C)            \[bx+ay=0\]

    D)            None of these

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

               Equation of line perpendicular to \[ax+by+c=0\] is \[bx-ay+\lambda =0\]                                     .....(i)            It passes through (a, b)            So, from equation (i),  \[ab-ab+\lambda =0\Rightarrow \lambda =0\]            So equation of line is \[bx-ay=0\].
