Which cell cannot divide following birth in humans?

    A)  muscle cells

    B)  erythroblasts

    C)  osteoblasts

    D)  neuron.

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

: Neurons or nerve cells are the units of nervous tissue. They are ectodermal in origin. Each neuron has a cell body or cyton from which arise two types of fibres, dendrites and axon. A cyton has a nucleus and numerous basophilic Nissls granules which are made ofribonucleic acid. These granules produce new cytoplasm in neurons and are also concerned with protein synthesis in nerve cells. Neurons cannot divide following birth in humans.
