    A)  rennin and\[C{{a}^{++}}\]respectively

    B) \[C{{a}^{++}}\]and rennin respectively

    C)  rennin,\[HCl\]and\[C{{a}^{++}}\]respectively

    D)  renin and\[C{{a}^{++}}\]respectively.

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

    : Rennin, an enzyme that coagulates milk, is present in gastric juice. It is secreted by peptic cells of gastric gland as proenzyme-prorennin which is activated by\[HCl\]into rennin. Casein is the principal protein of milk. When rennin or pepsin acts on casein, paracasein is formed. In the presence of calcium ions, an insoluble protein is formed, resulting in the curdling of milk.
