Which of the following is a chlorofluorocarbon?

    A)  \[CFS{{O}_{2}}\]

    B)  \[C{{F}_{2}}C{{l}_{2}}\]

    C)  \[FClC{{O}_{2}}\]

    D)  \[Cl{{F}_{2}}C\]

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

: Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) is a class of synthetic chemicals that are odourless, non-toxic, non-flammable, and chemically inert. It is a molecule that contains chlorine, fluorine, and carbon atoms. CFCs have been used as propellants in aerosol cans, as refrigerants in refrigerators and air conditioners, and in the manufacture of, foam packaging. They are partly responsible for the destruction of the ozone layer. Dichlorodifluoromethane\[(CC{{l}_{2}}{{F}_{2}})\]is an example of a CFC, and it was once used as a refrigerant before it was discovered that CFCs can cause ozone depletion.
