    B)  Gibberella and Penicillium

    C)  Aspergillus and Ustilago

    D)  none of the above.

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

: Early blight of potato is caused by Alter nan a solani (fungus). The disease shows its appearance first on foliage (dark or brown spots) with distinct concentric rings. On these rings appear black powdery mass of conidia. The infected leaf dries up, gets curved and droops down. Late blight of potato is caused by Phytophthora mfestans (fungus). The pathogen attacks the leaves causing irregular water soaked brown spots usually on the margin or the apex of leaves and ultimately the whole leaf gets blighted. Finally tubers are invaded and cause a dry or wet rot.
