If one root of \[5{{x}^{2}}+13x+k=0\] is reciprocal of the other, then k is equal to:

    A)  0

    B)  5

    C)         1/6

    D)         6

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

    Let \[\alpha \] be the root of the equation \[5{{x}^{2}}+13x+k=0,\] then the other root will be\[\frac{1}{\alpha }.\] \[\ \therefore \]               \[\alpha .\frac{1}{\alpha }=\frac{k}{5}\] \[\Rightarrow \]               \[k=5\]
