Klinefelters syndrome is associated with/marked by:

    A)  XYY

    B)  XXY

    C)  XO

    D)  XY

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

Klinefelters syndrome is caused by trisomic of sex chromosomes (XXY). Commonly they inherit 2A+XKY chromosomes. They are genetically male but the testes remain under developed and fail to produce sperms, hence, these are sterile. Turners syndrome is caused by monosomic of sex chromosomes. (2 A + XO). These syndromes are sterile females, the gonads are absent or rudimentary, and accessory genital organs and external genitalia are poorly developed. The individual with XY sex chromosome is normal male.
