    Solution :

    Let effective length and pole strength of a bar magnet is \[2\,l\] and m, then Magnetic moment \[M=m\times 2\,l\] ... (i) If the magnetic moment of either part be M, then \[M=m\,l\] ... (ii) Dividing Eq. (ii) by Eq. (i), we have \[\frac{M}{M}=\frac{ml}{2\,ml}=\frac{1}{2}\] \[\therefore \] \[M=\frac{M}{2}\]
