    Calvin cycle occurs in :

    A)  cytoplasm

    B)  chloroplasts

    C)  mitochondria

    D)  glyoxysomes

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

Calvin traced the pathway of carbon fixation by using \[^{14}C{{O}_{2}}\] in Chlorella and Scenedesmus. Calvin cycle (\[{{C}_{3}}\]cycle) takes place in stroma of chloroplast. Glycolysis takes place in cytoplasm. Mitochondria is the centre of oxidation of organic food during which energy is released, which stores in form of ATP. Therefore mitochondria is called, power house of the cell. Glyoxysomes are found in fungi, some protists and germinating fatty seeds. These contain catalase and enzymes for glyoxylate cycle through, which fats are converted into carbohydrates.
