Water molecules are connected by :

    A)  van der Wall force

    B)  covalent bond

    C)  H-bond

    D)  amide linkage

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

Water has structural and chemical properties that make it particularly suitable for its role in living cells. Every water molecule is capable of forming four hydrogen bond with nearby water molecules. Because of this strong attraction a great deal of heat is required to separate water molecules from each other. Covalent bond is formed by two atoms sharing one or more pairs of electrons. These are stronger and far more common in organisms than are true ionic bonds. When two uncharged atoms are brought very close together their surrounding electron clouds influence each other and create a transient opposite electric dipole in the nearby atoms. The two dipoles weakly attract each other bringing the two nuclei closure. These weak attractions are called Van der Walls interactions.
