Modern synthetic theory of evolution not involved:

    A)  gene mutation

    B)  gene recombination

    C)  natural selection

    D)  increase in size

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

Modern synthetic theory of evolution was designated by Huxley in 1942. Dobzhansky, R.A. Fisher, J.B.S. Haldane, Sewall Wright, Ernst Mayer and G.L. Stebbins were the major contributors of this theory. According to this theory there are four basic factors involved in the process of organic evolution. [a] Genetic variability in population: It Includes gene mutation, recombination, chromosomal mutation and hybridization. [b] Adaptation: Natural selection selects and favours the multiplication of those genetic variations which are of adaptive value to the organism. [c] Natural selection: It is a creative process which uses the variations and mutations as the raw material from which better adapted individuals with more chances of survival are obtained. [d] Isolation: Geographic or reproductive isolation.
