Which is absent in a leaf?

    A)  Lenticel

    B)  Stomata

    C)  Mesophyll

    D)  Chloroplast

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

Lenticels or aerating pores are present in bark of stems. Water is lost in form of vapour through leriticels. Stomata are minute pores complexes which occur on the soft aerial parts of the plants especially the leaves. The main function of Stomata is transpiration. Mesophyll occurs between the upper and lower epidermis in dorsiventral leaf. Mesophyll is differentiated into palisade parenchyma and spongy parenchyma. Spongy parenchyma is formed of irregular chloroplast containing cells that enclose large inter-cellular spaces.
