In a diode AM detector, the output circuit consists of \[R=1\,k\Omega \] and \[C=10\,pF\]. A carrier signal of 100 k Hz is to be detected. Is it good?

    A)  Yes

    B)  No

    C)  Information is not sufficient

    D)  None of the above

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

For better demodulation                 \[\frac{1}{{{f}_{c}}}<<RC\] Here,     \[\frac{1}{{{f}_{c}}}=\frac{1}{100\times {{10}^{3}}}={{10}^{-5}}s\] and        \[RC={{10}^{3}}\times 10\times {{10}^{-12}}\]                 \[={{10}^{-8}}s\] So, \[\frac{1}{{{f}_{c}}}\] is not less than RC. Hence, it is not good.
