    Solution :

     The wave number in Lyman series is \[=R\left[ \frac{1}{{{1}^{2}}}-\frac{1}{{{(n)}^{2}}} \right]\] Hence, the wave number of first lime when \[n=2\]is                 \[=R\left( \frac{1}{{{1}^{2}}}-\frac{1}{{{2}^{2}}} \right)=R\times \frac{3}{4}=\frac{3R}{4}\]
