  • question_answer
A gas at the temperature 250 K contained in a closed vessel. If the gas is heated through 1 K, percentage increase in its pressure will be:

    A) \[0.4%\]

    B) \[0.2%\]

    C) \[0.1%\]

    D) \[0.8%\]

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

    Initial temperature \[{{T}_{1}}=250\,K\] Final temperature \[{{T}_{2}}=250+1=251\,K\] From the Charle's law, \[\frac{{{P}_{1}}}{{{P}_{2}}}=\frac{{{T}_{1}}}{{{T}_{2}}}\] \[{{P}_{2}}=\left( \frac{{{T}_{2}}}{{{T}_{1}}} \right){{P}_{1}}\] \[=\frac{251\times 1}{250}=1.004\] Hence, change in pressure, \[=1.004-1=0.004=0.4%\]
