    \[2Mg+{{O}_{2}}\xrightarrow{{}}2MgO\] \[\because \]1 mole oxygen is combined with 2 mole of Mg to produce MgO Hence \[\text{2}\,\text{ }\!\!\times\!\!\text{ }\,\text{mol}\text{.}\,\text{wt}\text{.}\,\]of Mg \[=2\times 24=48\] \[\therefore \]1.5 mole of oxygen combines with \[48\times 1.5=72\,gm.\]
