  • question_answer
The volume of water to be added to \[\text{100 c}{{\text{m}}^{\text{3}}}\]of \[\text{0}\text{.5}\,\text{N}\,{{\text{H}}_{\text{2}}}\text{S}{{\text{O}}_{\text{4}}}\]to get decinormal concentration is:

    A) \[400\text{ }c{{m}^{3}}\]

    B) \[~500\text{ }c{{m}^{3}}\]

    C) \[~450\text{ }c{{m}^{3}}\]

    D) \[~100\text{ }c{{m}^{3}}\]

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

    To  get decinormal concentration, suppose the total volume of water\[=x\] \[\therefore \]  \[100\,c{{m}^{3}}\times 0.5\,N=x+0.1\,N\] \[\therefore \]   \[x=\frac{100\times 0.5}{0.1}=500\,c{{m}^{3}}\] Therefore the volume of water added \[=\text{Total}\,\text{volume}\,-100\,c{{m}^{3}}\] \[=500-100=400\,c{{m}^{3}}\]
