  • question_answer
In nuclear fission the percentage of mass converted into energy is about:

    A) \[0.01%\]

    B) \[10%\]

    C)  \[1%\]

    D) \[0.1%\]

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

Fission is a process in which heavy atoms breaks in two lighter ones by bombardment of neutrons, \[\alpha \]particles etc/because of this a mass defect\[(\Delta m)\]is created, which is converted into energy. Only 1% mass is utilised to convert energy. 0.1 to 0.5% mass is only converted into energy. This is the order of mass conversion.
