At which stage of mitosis, chromatids separse and start moving towards poles?

    A)  Prophase

    B)  Metaphase

    C)  Anaphase

    D)  Telophase

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

Anaphase is the shortest of all stages of the mitotic cycle and is recognized by separation of newly   formed   chromosomes   (former chromatids) towards opposite poles in the spindle. The part of the chromosome moving first is the kinetochore, which proceeds along the spindle axis carrying with it the chromosome. The end of anaphase is marked by the arrival of the new formed chromosomes at their respective poles. These are now two groups of chromosomes one at each pole of the spindle.
