    The ratio between boys and girls in a school is 4 : 6 respectively. If the number of boys is increased by 200 the ratio becomes 5 : 6 respectively. How many girls are there in the school?

    Solution :

                    Let the number of boys and girls be \[4x\] and \[6x\]respectively. According to question, \[\frac{4x+200}{6x}=\frac{5}{6}\] \[\Rightarrow \]               \[5x=4x+200\] \[\Rightarrow \]               \[x=200\] Therefore, number of girls\[=6x\] \[=6\times 200=1200\] Short-Trick Ratio I. Ratio (4 : 6) increasing of boys 200 and ratio increase = 1 II. Ratio (5 : 6) 1 = 200 Hence,  6 = 1200
