A Carnot engine working between 300 K and 600 K has work output of 800 J per cycle. What is the amount of heat supplied to the engine from the source in each cycle?

    A)  80 J

    B)  400 J

    C)  800 J

    D)  160 J

    E)  1600 J

    Correct Answer: E

    Solution :

                    As, efficiency\[\eta =1-\frac{{{T}_{2}}}{{{T}_{1}}}=1-\frac{300}{600}\] \[=1-\frac{1}{2}=\frac{1}{2}\] \[\therefore \] Output (work) \[=n\times \] heat energy supplied \[\Rightarrow \]               \[800=\frac{1}{2}\times \Delta \,Q\] \[\Rightarrow \]               \[\Delta Q=800\times 2=1600\,J\]
