  • question_answer
A segment of wire vibrates with fundamental frequency of \[450\text{ }Hz\]under a tension of\[9\text{ }kg-wt\]. Then tension at which the fundamental frequency of the same wire becomes \[900\text{ }Hz\]is

    A)  \[36\text{ }kg-wt\]

    B)  \[27\text{ }kg-wt\]

    C)  \[18\text{ }kg-wt\]

    D)  \[72\text{ }kg-wt\]

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

    Fundamental frequency, \[n=\frac{1}{2l}\sqrt{\frac{T}{m}}\] ie, \[n\,\propto \sqrt{T}\] \[\therefore \] \[\frac{{{n}_{1}}}{{{n}_{2}}}=\sqrt{\frac{{{T}_{1}}}{{{T}_{2}}}}\] \[\Rightarrow \] \[\frac{450}{900}=\sqrt{\frac{9}{{{T}_{2}}}}\] \[{{T}_{2}}=36\,kg-wt\]
