  • question_answer
The distance travelled by a bus in t seconds  after the brakes are applied is \[1+2t-2{{t}^{2}}m.\] The distance travelled by the bus before it stops is equal to

    A)  \[0.5\text{ }m\]

    B)  \[1\,\,m\]

    C)  \[1.5\,\,m\]

    D)  \[2.5\,\,m\]

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

    Given that, distance \[(x)=1+2t-2{{t}^{2}}\] \[\Rightarrow \] \[\frac{dx}{dt}=2-4t\] ?..(i) When the bus stop. then velocity of the buds become zero. \[\Rightarrow \] \[\frac{dx}{dt}=0\] \[\Rightarrow \] \[2-4t=0\] \[\Rightarrow \] \[t=1/2s\] \[\Rightarrow \] At time \[t=1/2.\] the distance travel by the bus is \[\Rightarrow \]\[x=1+2(1/2)-2(1/4)=1+1-1/2\] \[x=3/2=1.5\,m\]
