  • question_answer
Three resistors \[2\,\,\Omega ,\,\,\,3\,\,\Omega \] and \[4\,\,\Omega \] are connected as shown in the given diagram. The equivalent resistance will be:

    A) \[\frac{12}{13}\]

    B) \[\frac{11}{10}\]

    C)  \[2\]

    D)  \[\frac{10}{11}\]

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

The three resistances shown in figure are connected in parallel. So, their equivalent resistance is given by                 \[\frac{1}{R}=\frac{1}{2}+\frac{1}{3}+\frac{1}{4}\]                 \[=\frac{6+4+3}{12}=\frac{13}{12}\]                 \[R=\frac{12}{13}\Omega \] Note: The equivalent resistance in parallel combination is less than either of the resistances.
