The distance of. the point \[A(2,\,\,3,\,\,4)\] from \[x-\]axis is:

    A) \[5\]

    B) \[\sqrt{13}\]

    C) \[2\sqrt{5}\]

    D) \[5\sqrt{2}\]

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

Key Idea: The distance from the point\[({{x}_{1}},\,\,{{y}_{1}},\,\,{{z}_{1}})\] to the \[x-\]axis is\[\sqrt{y_{1}^{2}+z_{1}^{2}}\]. Given point is\[A(2,\,\,3,\,\,4)\]. \[\therefore \]The distance from \[x-\]axis                 \[=\sqrt{{{(2-2)}^{2}}+{{(3-0)}^{2}}+{{(4-0)}^{2}}}\]                 \[=\sqrt{0+9+16}=5\] Note: Whenever we find out the distance of a point from any coordinate-axis, which is equal to the sum of square root of rest of the coordinate axes.
