    Multiplication of DNA is called:

    A)  translation

    B)  replication

    C)  transduction

    D)  transcription

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

Replication means formation of equal and opposite forms. It usually refers to the synthesis of new DNA molecules from preexisting DNA i.e., multiplication of DNA. Multiplication of DNA has been suggested as self-duplication by 'Watson and Crick'. Transcription is simply the reading of DNA by  RNA polymerase with the simultaneous production of RNA. Translation is the process of protein synthesis by which the sequence of nucleotides present in the m-RNA is translated into the sequence of amino acids of polypeptide chain. Transduction is a method of genetic exchange  in bacteria, occurring when a bacterium incorporates DNA carried in by a virus.
